Dr. David Sauchyn

Partner Lead, PARC

Dave Sauchyn is the Director of the Prairie Adaptation Research Collaborative (PARC). For over 35 years, he has been a Professor of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Regina, where he teaches physical geography and the science of climate change. His research focuses on the climate and hydrology of the past millennium and how knowledge of the past can inform scenarios of future climate and water supplies. Dave also researches how planned adaptation can minimize the adverse impacts of climate change. Dave has given more than 350 invited talks on climate change, mostly to rural audiences, and co-authored about 150 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. He recently served as lead author (for a second time) of the Prairie Chapter of the federal government’s national assessment process released in December 2020. Â
